Diigo is a social bookmarking website which allows signed-up users to bookmark and tag web-pages. Additionally, it allows users to highlight any part of a webpage and attach sticky notes to specific highlights or to a whole page. Diigo is also a knowledge-sharing community where groups of bookmarks can be organized by tags and shared with others.
1. Watch this slideshow that gives you an overview of what Diigo can do for you.
2. Sign up for a Diigo account by going to here and clicking on the blue "Get Started Now". You can also sign up by using information from your other accounts such as Facebook, Twitter or Google.
3. There are 2 tools that can make bookmarking easier, a toolbar or Diigolet. After reading the following, choose which one would work best for you and follow the directions.
To make it easier to add bookmarks to your Diigo account you may want to download the Diigo toolbar for your internet browser. To download the toolbar click here and follow the directions.
If you would rather not use the Diigo toolbar, you can also use Diigolet. No installation or downloading is required and it's not as full-featured as the toolbar, but will allow you to bookmark, highlight and add sticky notes. What are Diigo Educator Accounts?
These are special premium accounts provided specifically to K-12 & higher-ed educators. Once your Diigo Educator application is approved, your account will be upgraded to have these additional features:
You can create student accounts for an entire class with just a few clicks (and student email addresses are optional for account creation)
Students of the same class are automatically set up as a Diigo group so they can start using all the benefits that a Diigo group provides, such as group bookmarks and annotations, and group forums.
Privacy settings of student accounts are pre-set so that only teachers and classmates can communicate with them.
Ads presented to student account users are limited to education-related sponsors.
